The Trust was founded in 1975
We give a child who would not normally have the chance, an opportunity to try new activities, meet new people and enjoy new experiences.
We give children a holiday that they can enjoy and which will also aid their personal development.
We provide much needed respite for parents and families in the Thames Valley area.
We allow our children to enjoy the same experiences and opportunities that other children have regularly.
Children come from the Thames Valley
And are referred by schools and social services. Our holidays provide a real adventure for the children as they take part in organised activities under safe and supervised conditions. This gives them an opportunity to experience new things, and make new friends, while enjoying some new found independence during what can be, for some, their first time away from home.
Individual care is provided
By an assigned helper who supports a child one to one for the duration of the holiday. This ensures that we are able to take children with a wide range of care needs and that they receive the quality care while away from home.
Our holidays also give parents and families a break from what can often be challenging, around the clock, care. Sometimes, our holiday can be the first break that families have had for some time.
SJHCT is run by a board of trustees
Who direct and oversee the work of the charity. They are supported by an executive group who organise the activities of the trust and have a say in the running of the trust at our annual general meeting.
All volunteers automatically become part of the executive and we encourage volunteers to take an active role in the work of the charity.
